Ahead of next week’s vote on this matter, I have written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer asking her to reconsider her position on the Winter Fuel Payment scheme. My constituents will know that the Labour Government’s proposals risk leaving two million pensioners exposed without means to keep their homes warm this winter.
Vulnerable pensioners across Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner already face higher housing costs and are disproportionately affected by the cost of Mayor Khan’s policies. Many now have very understandable worries about how they will keep their homes warm as temperatures get colder and the price cap rises.
