Having listened to the concerns of residents, I have worked cross-party to secure a vote in Parliament next week on changes to the Winter Fuel Payment scheme. Working with colleagues from across the political divide, I have been able to push this Government to present its plans to the House of Commons rather than bringing in this change in an underhand manner. This will give my colleagues and I the opportunity to put on record our objections while challenging the Labour frontbench directly.
I fear that Labour will have the numbers to force through this disastrous policy at the expense of millions across the country, so I expect this campaign to continue over the coming months.
