Despite support across all political parties, I am incredibly disappointed that the Labour Government voted down plans that would allow pensioners to keep the Winter Fuel payment.
My inbox has been inundated with residents telling me how worried they are about losing this payment, having budgeted the money to keep their homes warm this winter. I would like to assure those residents that the campaign does not stop here.
I am determined to ensure that those who need the Winter Fuel payment are able to keep it, and I will continue working with colleagues on this in the run-up to the Autumn Statement.
