Last week marked the 75th anniversary of VE Day and I am proud to join individuals and communities across the country in coming together to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of the entire Second World War generation.
Although we are unable to attend VE Day events as planned, I am pleased that the Eastcote Branch of the Royal British Legion were able to mark the occasion at the Eastcote War Memorial last week, in line with social distancing. I am sure that many local residents were very grateful that they were able to mark the event, even under the current circumstances.
We are currently facing some of the most challenging times since the end of the Second World War. The circumstances today are different to those of 75 years ago, but the response of our communities remains the same: Be kind. Unite. We can, and we will, pull through this together.
