I recently received a response from the Department of Health and Social Care regarding the 'Save our Pharmacies' campaign. Through this campaign, a number of constituents wrote to me over the summer months to secure funding that will ensure the future of their local pharmacies. I, again, want to thank all those who contacted me on this matter, as we are all concerned about the viability of these crucial local services. As I have done before, I want to add my personal thanks to the pharmacists across Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner who support constituents, providing vital help to many.
In his response, the Minister responsible committed the Government to expanding the role of pharmacies, utilising their skills and experience to provide health services. This is welcome to hear and builds on the legacy of the last Government that consistently took steps to empower local community healthcare providers through funding and by cutting the burdens they face. While I welcome a lot of what is said, I am disappointed that the Minister doesn’t use this opportunity to answer the pressing questions that were put to the Department by my constituents.
I will ensure that any developments are followed closely.
