This afternoon, Parliament met for its first session since the summer recess, starting with oral questions to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). This was also my debut at the dispatch box since being appointed as a Shadow Minister.
As Shadow Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Ministry, I now have important role in providing scrutiny of government policy. At this afternoon’s session, I was able to raise the concerns of my residents regarding the redesignation of green belt land and support for local government finance. I have always stood up to central government plans to build inappropriate developments locally and plans to deprive our boroughs of much needed funding.
I am disappointed that the Minister responding was unable to provide reassurances on either matter, and I will continue to push the Government on these matters over the coming months.
