Residents may recall that last year in Parliament, I joined fellow Harrow MP Bob Blackman and Cllr Hitesh Karia, cabinet member for Children's Services at Harrow Council, to meet with Gillian Keegan, the Secretary of State for Education, and discuss provisions for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Harrow.
I am delighted by the Government's announcement today of funding for a new free school in the London Borough of Harrow, specifically focused on the needs of local SEND children. This is thanks to the incredibly hard work of colleagues at Harrow council, particularly councillors Hitesh Karia and Paul Osborn.
I welcome this fantastic news, particularly at a time when there is immense pressure on local mums and dads who want to ensure their child gets the education they need. I know this will also be enormously helpful for other schools locally who are also doing great work to support children with this particular need.
