In November, I invited residents to take part in a survey on local TfL bus services. It was encouraging to receive generally positive feedback, and to hear that services are valued by residents. However, there were certain areas where greater connectivity is sought, which I later raised with TfL.
In their response, TfL have agreed that they would like to see improved connectivity, and thanked residents for their comments and suggestions, which will be looked into as part of service planning to improve the network.
Concerning the specific routes that were raised, TfL have shared the following information for residents:
Ruislip/Ruislip Manor to North Harrow and Hatch End: This journey can be made using the H13 to Pinner and interchanging to the H12 there. Alternatively, it can be made by taking the 398 to South Harrow and changing to the 182 there.
Harefield to Rickmansworth and Watford: We have a responsibility for journeys to, from and within London. We do run a number of cross boundary services but only where we think there is sufficient passenger demand to justify the cost and where they do not compete with commercial operators or tendered county council/unitary authority cross boundary services. Arriva operate a half hourly service between Mount Vernon Hospital and Watford – route 328. Passengers can change between this and the 331 at Mount Vernon to travel between Harefield and Watford.
Ruislip to Uxbridge: Passengers can use the route U1 to get from Ruislip to Uxbridge.
Direct bus route between Ruislip and Westfield White City: Whilst we understand the ease of direct journeys, it is not always possible to provide direct buses on all routes. Passengers can, however, use route E7 between Ruislip and Ealing where they can change to the 207 or 607 which goes to White City.
Increased capacity of the H13 bus route in the summer, particularly weekends: Our team are currently looking at this at present.
Furthermore, I know that some of the concerns raised by residents were about the number of bus journeys required by some routes. The response from TfL reminded customers of the bus Hopper fare. This enables passengers to interchange between bus services within one hour at no extra cost. Customers can take unlimited journeys on multiple buses for a flat rate of £1.75, if the journeys are made within one hour of touching in.
If you have any queries, or any further concerns you would like raised, please do let me know. Additionally, I would also advise contacting Susan Hall, as Mayoral candidate and GLA member, as well as your other GLA representatives who are best placed to hold the Mayor and TfL to account on transport issues within London.
