Following a meeting with the Education Development Trust at Conservative Party Conference in October, I was pleased to engage with the team further during a visit to Vyners School in Ickenham this morning. Here I met with Dan Sandhu, Renu Jaswal and Mark De Backer from the Education Development Trust, as well as Nicola Harvey, Assistant Head, and Gurjeet Kohli, Careers Lead, at Vyners.
I was interested to hear about the career offers to students through a presentation, and to then to watch a focus group led by an independent careers adviser from EDT with students across Years 11 to 13. This demonstrated the importance of career advice being offered in schools and, from hearing their personal experience, it was clear that the pupils had really benefitted from the service.
Overall, it was a productive visit, and I am pleased to have had the opportunity to meet with the EDT and both teachers and pupils at Vyners.
