Last night, Members of the House of Lords debated an amendment designed to prevent the Mayor from proceeding with the expansion of ULEZ to our area without the consent of Hillingdon and Harrow. At this stage, the amendment was not put to a vote, but I am grateful that Lord Moylan has championed this matter in Parliament. It was clear from last night’s debate that there truly is a cross-party consensus on this issue and many of those speaking eloquently dismantled the Mayor’s narrative.
It is greatly encouraging that the Government is prepared to meet with Lord Moylan to discuss the proposals ahead of the next parliamentary debate. I will continue to work with Ministers and Lords to ensure that the amendment is refined and eventually accepted.
