Residents may recall that earlier in the year, I met with schools across Northwood and Northwood Hills to discuss the issue of traffic, particularly at peak times. While both the schools and Hillingdon Council have already implemented measures to help ease traffic, I wanted to explore possible ways for this to be reduced further.
While using local transport, where possible, to travel to and from school seems an obvious solution, concerns were raised around the issue of safety. I was told at the meeting that students, in particular females, are dissuaded from travelling by train because there is a lack of visible staffing presence at Northwood Hills Station. Furthermore, the lighting is not sufficient and does not provide reassurance.
I therefore wrote to TfL to raise these concerns, and below is a copy of the response. While it has not yet been confirmed whether Northwood Hills is on the programme to replace lighting, I will follow this up in due course.
