I am pleased to confirm that planning consent has been granted by Hillingdon Council for a much-needed new surgery and range of NHS community health services at the Northwood and Pinner Cottage Hospital site.
This is a debate that dates back to the tenures of both my predecessor, Nick Hurd, and his predecessor, John Wilkinson. These significant developments on this long-standing issue, therefore, are to be welcomed.
I do recognise the concerns that have been expressed about the proposed development of flats, which I note were very well set out by Residents' Association representatives during the planning process. I maintain the view that we must not object to the housing at the expense of a significantly larger and more modern healthcare facility. Of course, I will keep a close eye on how the residential element develops.
