I am deeply concerned by the contents of the Chancellor’s statement.
All of my constituents know that Hillingdon Hospital is a vital service that provides life altering treatment to many across West London. A lot of work has gone into securing the redevelopment of the hospital and the funding for this redevelopment. Yet this work is now at risk because of the new Government’s reckless start to its tenure in power. MPs approved funding for such projects only last week when we voted on departmental expenditure for the Department of Health and Social Care, this totalled £12.655 billion and included the funds for the new Hillingdon Hospital. During her statement, I asked the Chancellor to confirm that money was still available for this project so that work can continue.
I am bitterly disappointed that the Chancellor did not use the opportunity to confirm that money was still available. I am picking this up as a matter of urgency and will work cross-party with my neighbouring MPs to ensure funding is made available.
