Today the Court of Appeal have vindicated the concerns of my constituents and of environmental campaigners across the Country. The full environmental impact has not previously been given sufficient consideration and the economic case for a third runway at Heathrow has been consistently overstated. The focus now must be on levelling up our economy, not over-saturating investment in unviable projects which are at risk of irreversibly damaging our environment. We need to continue making serious progress towards meeting our target of being of a carbon neutral economy by 2050. This can only be achieved through developing innovative technology and facilitating sustainable investment across the whole of the UK.
